A reversed version of Lovecraft's CTHULHU.
------------------------------------------------
(unlikely) PLOT: The Cthulhunauts are happily sailing the lovely sea when they find a strange island that is not on any of their sea charts. They are curious, and investigate this island with wonder. A large cyclopean doorway is found, and it bursts open releasing an abnoxious vapour, followed by a large human mass. Gibbering and cursing wildly.
The great MUZ has awakened!
Angry at being disturbed from his great nap by these pesky little sea-fairing Cthulhunauts, the great MUZ lashes out with both arms. Rising from the large cyclopean doorway, he casts an eye on the Cthulhunauts anchored ship in the bay. They all scream in terror, shooting, running, feinting, swimming. Some went totally mad.
A mountain walked. No, ...stumbled.

Overall Vision Originality
Technique ImpactThis is opinion, but I guess what critique isn't?
I've always imagined form follows function. In my mind the Cthulhu world would have buildings and ships that curve like their bodies/tentacles. Perhaps their main architectural forms wouldn't look anything like ours.
I could understand doing a social commentary piece, in this way you might want to exaggerate the exactness of the human look in the Cthulhu world. I noticed the ship definitely looks like a human-like ship. The buildings in the background could be castles, or chess pieces with pizza on the top. The buildings being so different from the ship style is a little confusing for me.
On a side note, I cannot tell if this meant as a quick silly funny, or something that might be terrifying to their race. I think if it is meant to be a quick funny, the cuteness factor needs to be bigger/more. I think if Muz is meant to be terrifying, he cannot come threw a well built trap door in the ground.
I love the concept, and the shading/style of the overall piece is awesome. To me it appears as a sort of old-timey-photo. I love Cthulhu pieces in general and I encourage you to do more like this or re-work this one.
